(Posted by: Nathaniel on 2006-12-21 07:07:04)
I've been in my house for a year and spent about £7000 on it but I'm very unhappy there - should I sell or hang on to recoup any losses. |

If it was me then i would sell as nobody should be so unhappy, is it the house or the area you stay in that is making you so sad? poor you i hope you do the right thing so that you can be happy again, merry xmas |

Sell it, and make sure you get what you put into it. If the improvements were put in the right place it should increase the house value. |

Move on Bill. If you move, maybe, or maybe not, you'll loose 7K If you stay, you'll could loose 7K and be unhappy. Its like punishing yourself twice. 7k is bugger all compared to how well you feel about where you live. the houses you consider moving to are likely to vary by 20% around your top budget, so you could easliy blow or save the 7k. just move, be happy, best of luck....... |

You really need to research the market in your area. Go and talk to an estate agent (preferably someone who works in the office, not someone who's on commission!) You need to know if the market is going up or down. If it's going down, then you should sell a.s.a.p. If it's going up, then you could give yourself 6 months and feel better about going. My husband and I had horrendous problems in our first house together and were driven to leave. Luckily it all worked out fine and we found a nicer house and didn't lose out financially. Bottom line is, do a bit of research, make an informed decision and you'll feel good about it. |

Depends... what do you consider a loss? Losing 7000 or losing your happiness????? |

Why are you unhappy there? Think before you sell. Realistically, would you be any happier somewhere else? If the truthful answer to this question is no then sort out the happiness issue first and then decide whether to sell. If the house is the cause of unhappiness (?) then sell. |
